Sara Cate Ruff is an Associate at Merson Law, PLLC who earned her B.S. in Journalism and Integrated Media with a minor in Theological Studies from Biola University in 2015. Sara Cate graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 2020.
During her time at Brooklyn Law School, Ms. Ruff was an Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Fellow recipient, a program dedicated to helping prepare future lawyers to work for social justice, allowing her to intern with Brooklyn Defender Services’ Family Defense Practice for the summer of 2019. Ms. Ruff was also a member The Brooklyn Journal of International Law and Dean’s Merit Scholar recipient throughout her time at law school.
During law school, Ms. Ruff participated in Brooklyn Law School’s Criminal Defense and Advocacy Clinic, which allowed her to represent clients in the criminal legal system, especially those who were survivors of gender-based violence, family abuse, and sexual exploitation.
Ms. Ruff first began her career at Merson Law as a summer legal intern in 2017, and then returned in the fall of 2019. Since then, she has served the firm as a law clerk, conducting legal research, working with clients, and drafting legal documents for cases involving claims of sexual assault and medical malpractice.
As an Associate, Ms. Ruff looks forward to working with her clients, and representing their interests as they seek redress for the harms and traumas they have suffered.
