Over the course of her career, spanning more than two decades, Ms. Garfinkel has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in medical and dental malpractice, and other personal injury cases.
During that time, she has worked at a number of private law firms, as well as the New York City Law Department and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation’s Medical Malpractice Unit. She has tried cases involving medical, dental and automobile liability claims.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Garfinkel obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University and then obtained her Masters in Business Administration with a specialization in Healthcare Administration from Baruch College and Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Indeed, Ms. Garfinkel’s background and experience provides Merson Law and its clients a distinct advantage, especially in cases against governmental entities, who she represented for a good part of her career.
Ms. Garfinkel is admitted to practice law in New York State and Federal (Eastern and Southern Districts) Court.
Fran’s commitment to advocacy is not limited to the victims of negligence, medical malpractice and sexual assault.
She sits on the Board of Directors of Classic Legacy Thoroughbred Aftercare, an organization dedicated to the rehabilitation, retraining, rehoming and provision of a retirement sanctuary to thoroughbred horses and for the last ten years she has engaged in fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Association and has participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, hoping that a cure for this dreaded disease will be discovered in her lifetime.
