How Can I Get Compensated?
With every injury comes a wide range of damages – and costs. From just one accident, an injured construction worker may find themselves with a slew of bills, from hospital bills and physical therapy to possibly long-term medical care. Merson Law can help you seek compensation for things like:
- Medical bills
- Rehabilitation costs
- Long-term care
- Loss of working capacity
- Pain and suffering
In fact, people who have been injured in a construction accident who hire a lawyer are compensated more than those who do not.
Types of injuries Merson Law can help with include:
Workplace Falls. Whether it be a slip and fall accident on the same floor, a fall caused by a defective or poorly positioned ladder or a fall from one level to another, falls are the most common cause of injury at construction sites. Most falls simply result in typical injuries, like fractures and bruises, but more serious falls can lead to concussions, organ damage, paralysis, or even death.
Heavy machinery. Forklifts, trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and loaders are just a few of the many machines used at construction sites every day. Because of the sheer size and power of many of these machines, they can be very dangerous because operators may not see those nearby, clothing gets caught in mechanical parts, heavy loads fall from the arms of loaders or cranes, etc.
Electrical Injury. An often overlooked construction hazard, construction sites are often full of electrical wires, some of which are still live and improperly labeled and/or insulated. Shock injuries can result in burns, brain damage, or death.
Falling debris. When debris falls several stories, even small pieces can become dangerous projectiles. Catch platforms should always be constructed to insure safety to workers and passing pedestrians, but are not always sufficient or properly built.
Power tool injuries. A slip with a power tool can cause severe cuts, burns and even unwanted amputations.
