Merson Law Associate: Jesse R. Mautner

Summary of Experience

Jesse Mautner is an Associate at Merson Law, PLLC. Jesse Mautner is also a Co-Chair of the Merson Law Internship / Externship Program. He earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2019, where he was president of the Law School’s Center for Urban Business Entrepreneurship, and an editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law. He earned his B.A in Legal Studies and Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2016.

Mr. Mautner’s motivation to fight for the vulnerable started while working at the New York Legal Assistance Group. While there, he assisted the Mobile Legal Help Center and Total Life Choices units in providing free legal services to low-income clients with employment, healthcare, and housing disputes. He also assisted elderly clients with the drafting and execution of wills and health care proxies.

Mr. Mautner began his career at Merson Law as a legal intern in 2017. Since then, he has served the firm as a law clerk, conducting legal research and drafting complaints and motions for cases involving medical malpractice, personal injury and sexual assault. As an Associate, he looks forward to engaging with clients from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds who are suffering due to the negligence of health care providers, employers and government agencies. His ultimate goal is to get these clients the compensation they rightfully deserve, and will require, to get on with their lives.

At Merson Law, Mr. Mautner handles sexual assault, employment/labor law, catastrophic personal injury and medical malpractice cases. Mr. Mautner is licensed to practice law in the State of New York and is pending admission to the State of Vermont.


Prior to joining Merson Law, Mr. Mautner worked at one of the largest not-for-profit legal organizations in the city, the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG), assisting clients with cases involving end-of-life care. Mr. Mautner was also the president of the Center for Urban Business Entrepreneurship and a managing editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law while studying at Brooklyn Law School. 

Demonstrative Cases:

  • One of the largest sexual assault verdicts in the State of New York in 2019 ($14 million) for a case involving the repeated abuse of a minor;
  • Representing over a dozen women with claims against the Estate of Jeffrey E. Epstein;
  • $9 million for a construction worker who was rendering a paraplegic after falling through the roof of a building he was working on;
  • Representing numerous victims of childhood sexual assault with claims against Dioceses and individuals throughout the State of New York;
  • Litigating against the City of New York for an accident involving a tree falling on a mother and her three children while walking in Central Park;
  • $8 million plus settlement for victims of bus accident in Delaware; and,
  • Representing the estate of an individual who died due to his medical providers’ failure to diagnose/treat his lung cancer.
